| Mark jumps right into the ministry of Jesus by describing an incident with Jesus in the synagogue at Capernaum, his adopted hometown. Right away we see the cosmic battle displayed in a skirmish between God and the evil one. Jesus demonstrates to His new disciples that He was no ordinary Rabbi and that they were on the beginning of a wild ministry ride together…Jesus is still radically changing lives… |

| The beginning of Jesus ministry finds Jesus in an unlikely location with unlikely followers preaching an unappealing message. Mark leaves more questions unanswered, but perhaps that is the point. Jesus was not what was expected, the perfect savior for a people experiencing unexpected persecution. |

| Mark jumps right into the life of Jesus and the ongoing cosmic battle between God and Satan as he begins the gospel. Right away we are confronted with the servant motif. We also see that suffering and persecution are not foreign to Jesus and that He is triumphant. |
